Diggle

Lock 32w to Ward Lane, Diggle. Dredging and washwall repairs to short length of canal. Work completed April 2001.

Most of this work has been incorporated in to the contract on the Standedge Tunnel

Diggle

On this aerial photograph, Ward Lane is seen cutting across the bottom right hand corner of the image with Lock 31w adjacent. Lock 32w is near the centre of the image and the entrance to Standedge Tunnel at the top left.

Uppermill

Lock 21w to Wool Road, Uppermill. Dredging and lock repairs. Work completed July 1999.

Uppermill

Work involved refurbishment of Lime Kiln (23w) and Dungebooth (22w) Locks including new lock gates and dredging of the complete section between the Saddleworth Museum and the Transhipment Shed, Dobcross. This includes the section of canal which was the first to be restored in 1981. The recent works enabled the Pennine Moonraker trip boat to continue operations.

This was the first Millennium Project scheme completed.

Greenfield

Frenches (Chew Valley Road) to High Street Bridge. Dredging and washwall repairs. Work started in February 2000 and following a suspension of operations during Summer 2000 was completed in March 2001.

Greenfield

This picture shows the dredging equipment that arrived on site in February 2000.

A start was made on dredging but work had to be suspended whilst arrangements were made for the disposal of the dredged material. Work restarted in September 2000 and is now complete Some dredgings have been taken to commercial tip, others to a new dredgings site at the end of Armit Road.

Friezland

Mann's Wharf to Frenches (Chew Valley Road). Dredging and washwall repairs. Work started in February 2000 and following a suspension of operations during Summer 2000 was completed in March 2001.
