Replacement bridge. Scheme started in November 1999 and completed in July 2000.
A new bridge with navigable clearance is being constructed in place of the 1920s swing bridge which had become fixed in position. Continuity of access to the mill complex has been ensured by the formation of a temporary access road across a dam.
A short section of canal has been dewatered and several hundred of the protected white clawed crayfish have been rescued by ecologists and transferred upstream.
The old swing bridge has been taken away and work has started on the footings to the new bridge.
The main box structure is complete and a start made on the integral towpath.
Wing walls taking shape.
Holme Mill Bridge nearing completion with stone facings being laid.
