Internal repairs. Work was undertaken in May 2000 as part of the Standedge Tunnel contract.
This 187 metre long tunnel is a short version of Standedge Tunnel but with a towpath. Work included rock bolting and masonry lining repairs to make the tunnel safe for pedestrian and boat use.
This shows rock bolts and mesh installed to improve the structural integrity of small sections of the tunnel. In this case it has been decided that a spray concrete finish is not required for safety and the mesh will be left open to help the resident bats find roosts.
This view shows that the tunnel has now been reopened for towpath walkers.
May 4th. Hire boat 'Leicester' enters Scout Tunnel.
